Summertime and the skincare is easy…

Summertime and the skincare is easy

Summertime skincare and sun-kissed days are best suited to really easy, simple routines.

Votary pure plant oils are perfect for summer skincare when you want a natural, clean, glowing results your for your skin.  Contrary to what you might think, oils are brilliant in both hot and humid and hot and dry weather. They work cleverly to keep your skin soft, supple, comfortable and dewy.

Summertime skincare routines have to be really effective because heat can be really challenging for your skin.  Hot and sticky days in the city can leave skin feeling grubby and grimy. Increased sweating can make it feel sticky and puffy. Melted make-up can cause congestion and blocked pores. And SPF, while completely crucial, can feel as if it  leaves a film on your skin, making it look dull and feel coated.

All of these factors need dealing with, properly,  at the end of each summer day to avoid blemishes. You need a cleanser which takes everything off, brilliantly, first time. All three Votary Cleansing Oils work to remove every trace of SPF, make-up, grime, sweat and environmental pollution, leaving your skin super-clean, soft, dewy and ready to be nourished. Great skin truly begins with properly clean skin.

When your face has been properly cleansed, the next step is to use a serum which both peps-up and preps your skin. I love this stage in my Votary summertime skincare routine. Our Brightening Hyaluronic  Serum is just the tonic my skin is crying out for after a long, hot, dusty day. Glycolic acid renews and brightens, hyaluronic acid plumps and restores, and  neroli flower water cools and refreshes instantly. It feels gorgeous and fresh on the skin, and prepares your face perfectly for hydration.

Lots of people make the mistake of thinking that when it isn’t cold, skin doesn’t need moisturising but hot weather can be just as demanding on your skin. Even though it isn’t having to deal with extremes of cold and central heating, it still needs hydration, both on the surface and deep down. Days on the beach can parch your skin, and increased UVA and UVB can make it feel tight and taut. Moisturising is still a key part of summertime skincare.  A light, quickly-absorbed layer of Votary natural, pure plant facial oil under your SPF or make-up keeps your skin hydrated and glowing, and protects it against the drying effect of hot weather.

The Votary 3 step summertime skincare routine leaves my skin looking and feeling so clean, glowing, calm and smooth that I don’t even reach for my make-up apart from a sweep of our new Tinted Lip Gloss. Bare-faced, relaxed summer evenings are one of my favourite things.

The Votary 3 step routine is the perfect way to begin and end each summer day, and here’s how easy it is to do…

Begin with our Rose Geranium and Apricot Cleansing Oil which suits all skin types and is lightweight in texture. Massage three to four pumps into your face, add a little warm water, and then gently remove with the 100% cotton face cloth which comes with the cleanser. Afterwards, splash your face with cool water. Your skin will feel soft, comfortable and properly clean.

Next, add four drops of our Brightening Hyaluronic Serum to your palms.  Your skin will feel smooth and radiant and the neroli fragrance is beautifully summery.

Then, take three to four drops of our Neroli and Myrrh Facial Oil.  Made from hazelnut oil and argan oil, it restores balance, lightly hydrates, and gives glow. Neroli brightens, and myrrh calms and soothes. It selectively moisturises without overloading, so is perfect for summer days. Apply with gentle, upward motions and your skin will feel calm, comfortable and nourished.

Wishing you a summer of happy days and happy skin!

Love, Arabella x
